Security is at, or near, the top of everyone's list of "stuff that's important," yet the management of security artifacts (such as keys and certificates) has been lacking a cohesive solution. This is where Barbican comes into the picture. Barbican is a ReST API plus python command line client that provides secure storage and provisioning of secrets, including keys and certificates.
This tutorial is a tour through the magical world of Barbican, led by members of the Barbican project.
You will interact directly with a live instance of Barbican to store and retrieve secrets, orders, and containers. You will also be shown examples and use cases of how Barbican can help you on your quest to secure your secrets.
You are not expected to have any previous experience with Barbican. A basic understanding of security components (such as keys and certificates) and a basic understanding of ReST is helpful, but not required.
By the end of the class you will know:
1) Importance of secret storage
2) How to store & retrieve secrets with Barbican
3) How to submit an order with Barbican
4) How to create a container
5) Use cases for Barbican / Examples
6) The future of Barbican --Ordering SSL Certs
